The First Leak Detection System Directly Integrated with a BMS Using BACnet.
Waterguard is proud to deliver our advanced Waterguard+ leak detection system to the prestigious Life Sciences Building in Oslo, one of Norway’s largest buildings with a total area of 97,500 m². This marks an important milestone as Waterguard+ becomes the first leak detection system directly integrated with the building’s Building Management System (BMS) through the BACnet protocol, ensuring efficient monitoring and control of the leak detection system throughout the facility.
Stringent Quality Requirements Set by Statsbygg Fulfilled
Waterguard+ has recently undergone extensive testing in collaboration with Statsbygg, where the system was thoroughly evaluated to ensure it meets the integration requirements for the BMS in the Life Sciences Building. The system was tested for functionality, quality, and reliability, and met all necessary approval criteria. This provides assurance that the Life Sciences Building will be well-protected against water leaks in the years to come.
Comprehensive Installation
The project includes the installation of approximately 200 Waterguard+ units, all connected to the building’s BMS. Through BACnet communication, these units will not only alert in case of a leak but also allow for remote control of valves, enabling a swift response to prevent water damage and quick reopening of valves once the alarm is resolved. With Waterguard+, both humidity and temperature can be monitored in real-time via the BMS, providing maximum protection for the building and the valuable equipment that will be used in the research and educational spaces.
Fredrik Eriksen, CTO in Fell Tech, has followed the testing process closely and emphasizes the significance of this approval:
“Our Waterguard+ products have been validated and approved for network integration in the new Life Sciences Building. This project sets a new standard for Water Leak Detection in large buildings, where the integration with the automation system via BACnet provides a unique opportunity to protect critical facilities from water damage quickly and effectively.”
The Future of Leak Detection
Waterguard is proud to be part of this groundbreaking project in collaboration with
Norsk Teknisk Installasjon (NTI), who is the customer for Waterguard in this project.
We look forward to continuing our work in delivering secure and reliable solutions for Water Leak Detection in modern buildings. By integrating with the BMS in the Life Sciences Building, we are setting a new standard for how leak detection can be implemented in large, technically advanced facilities.
